The loss of a spouse often causes feelings of loneliness. However, after
a period of adjustment, a person will be ready to move forward to become
involved in meeting people and participating in varied social activities.
With the help of a fine group of volunteers, Widowed
Friends supports the need of members to get on with their life by providing a variety of activities
such as small group local happenings, as well as larger events involving the entire
Widowed Friends community.
Widowed Friends Dinner
Every other month Widowed Friends gather for dinner at the American Polish Cultural Center.
This popular activity continues to draw over 100
widowed men and women. It provides a perfect setting to enjoy the company of old friends
and an opportunity to meet new people.
Local Happenings
Other geographically arranged dinners, shows, river cruises, house parties, etc. have been instrumental
in helping form new friendships within local areas. All widowed men and women are welcome to
attend Local Happenings in any area. Carpooling is encouraged so that members can attend
a greater number of activities.
Social Events
Larger events, including the Spring Fever Party, the Summer Picnic, Fall Fling and the Christmas Party
continue to grow in popularity. Indoor and outdoor games, music, dancing, catered meals and much more
contribute to a variety of interests and wonderful times among your new friends.
Travel
Members who enjoy traveling may take advantage of formal or informal travel opportunities. A Panama
cruise attracted many members. Day trips, such as river cruises, Frankenmuth, etc. allow us to explore
many interesting local destinations.
Everyone is welcome to attend all events. You need only to RSVP by the indicated time. The events are
publicized in our newsletter, parish bulletins and vicariate newsletters.
Refer to the newsletter for a current listing of activities.
